Zinedine Zidane forced to take Martin Odegaard on pre-season tour as Real Madrid boss clashes with club president

Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane has clashed with the club's president over 17-year-old Martin Odegaard.
Zidane did not want to take the young midfielder on the club's pre-season tour which has kicked off in Canada but Florentino Perez insisted, in the pair's first major disagreement since Zidane took over last January.
Perez wants Odegaard on the tour because first team involvement is written into his contract and because his presence in North America will help Madrid find a new club for him this summer.
But although Zidane agrees that the youngster need to go out on loan this season he was against him joining up when there are no plans to incorpórate him in Madrid's first team squad this season.
French media Le10Sport went as far as to claim Perez 'imposed Odegaard's presence on the tour,' and suggested the French legend was unhappy with what he saw as interference.
Hamburg have shown interest in taking Odegaard to the Bundesliga next season and Liverpool - one of the clubs he turned down when he picked Madrid - have also been linked.
But Real would prefer to send him to another Spanish club and want to provoke interest by giving him a run-out in one of this seasons's pre-season friendlies.
It has even been suggested that the club will take Odegaard to the European Super Cup final on August 9 because it is being played in his home country, Norway.
Madrid signed Odegaard in January 2015 but hopes that he would be fast tracked to the first team have been dashed by his steady but slow progress in the club's 'Castilla' B-team that was previously coached by Zidane.
This is not the first time Zidane has been unhappy at the treatment received by Odegaard. When he managed Castilla he was put out by the player's regular absence from training sessions because he was training with the first team, then managed by Carlo Ancelotti.
Ancelotti admitted recently that Odegaard had been a 'public relations' signing who he never requested and was forced to accommodate where possible. Ancelotti gave Odegaard his debut in the last game of the 2014-15 season before he was sacked.
Zidane is understood to be keen on promoting youth at Real Madrid but he feels holding midfielder Marcos Llorente and attacking midfielder Marco Asensio, who are both also in Montreal with the squad, are ahead of Odegaard on merit.
His two sons, Luca and Enzo, are both in the squad for the tour to Canada, which is missing the stars who featured in the latter stages of Euro 2016.

Sadio Mane gives his Liverpool move the thumbs-up after undergoing medical ahead of £30m switch to Anfield

Sadio Mane was all smiles as he emerged from his medical at Liverpool ahead of a £30million switch from Southampton.
The Senegalese forward gave a thumbs-up to the camera after undergoing the routine tests at Liverpool Hospital on Monday and his representatives will now discuss personal terms with the Anfield hierarchy before the transfer is completed.
As reported by Sportsmail earlier this month, the 24-year-old is set to make Southampton a huge profit, having joined the south coast club from Red Bull Salzburg for £11.8m in 2014.

His arrival is the first major piece of business to have been done by Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp this summer and he becomes the club's third most expensive signing ever.
Klopp believes Mane has the pace, energy and aggression to give Liverpool’s attack a different dimension.
It had been the German's desire to have Mane on board for the start of pre-season - Liverpool’s non European Championship players report for work on July 2 - and he could make his debut in the first pre-season game at Tranmere on July 8.
Mario Gotze, the Bayern Munich forward, had been the prime target on Klopp’s summer wish-list but when he indicated he was reluctant to move to the Premier League, Liverpool quickly turned their attentions to Mane.

Once the deal is completed, Southampton will have received £91.5million in transfer fees from Liverpool over the last three summers with Mane following Adam Lallana (£25m), Dejan Lovren (£20m), Nathaniel Clyne (£12.5m) and Rickie Lambert (£4m) from the south coast.
Mane made a lasting impression on Klopp when he scored twice and inspired a dramatic 3-2 win over Liverpool at St Mary’s on March 20.
The 24-year-old will become Liverpool’s fourth signing of the summer after Joel Matip arrived from Schalke, Marko Grujic, joined in a £5m deal from Red Star Belgrade and goalkeeper Loris Karius was signed from Mainz.
Further additions are expected before the end of the window, with Liverpool having submitted bids for the Udinese midfielder Piotr Zelinski and Leicester left back Ben Chilwell, while they continue to track Borussia Monchengladbach’s Mahmoud Dahoud.

Lionel Messi sensationally quits Argentina team after losing third final in three years

A heartbroken Lionel Messi has declared he is retiring from international football, sending the national team into disarray.
The forward missed a penalty in the Copa America Centenario final shoot-out against Chile as his team lost their third final in three years.
Messi, who was in tears after the match, spoke after the game to Argentine television and explained his decision.
'That's it. It's over for me with the national team,' he explained.
'It's not for me. That's four finals. The decision has been made, I think so. [Winning] is what I wanted most. It didn't come. I think that's it. That's how I feel now, what I think. It's a great sadness. It hurts not to be a champion.'
Messi may yet change his mind, but for now the constant disappointment with his national side and his long-term discontent with the AFA (Argentine Football Association) have led to this reaction.
Sergio Aguero revealed that other players could be considering their futures with the side too, and Sportsmail has learned Javier Mascherano could be one of the stars who may quit.
'Messi probably won't be the only player to leave the national team,' said Aguero.
'There are various players who are considering quitting. This is the worst I've seen the dressing room. Worse than after the other two finals [the 2014 World Cup and 2015 Copa America].'
In 2007 Messi first tasted defeat in a final with Argentina, losing 3-0 to Brazil in the Copa America.
That was followed by disappointment against Germany in 2014, plus defeats to Chile two years running in the Copa America again.
Messi posted on Instagram on Wednesda,y because of a delay to Argentina's flight to New Jersey from Houston, writing: 'What a disaster the AFA is.'
He later pledged to go into greater detail about his grievances after the tournament.
On Friday FIFA announced they have taken control of the AFA and are electing an emergency panel to manage its affairs, after president Luis Segura was charged with fraud on Thursday.
Some of Messi's team-mates were shocked by his decision to quit the national team.
'I think Messi spoke in the heat of the moment because such a great opportunity escaped us,' said Manchester United goalkeeper Sergio Romero.

Set f*** to the rain! Outrage after Adele swore 33 TIMES during Glastonbury set despite BBC warning about her potty mouth

Hers was one of the most hotly-anticipated sets at Glastonbury for many years.
But Adele's 90-minute headline set on the Pyramid Stage at the iconic music festival was as memorable for her excessive swearing as her powerful vocals, as she swore 33 times during the performance.
The 28-year-old singer - who is known for her potty mouth - admitted she was even warned by the BBC to tone down her language as her set was broadcast live to millions at home on BBC Two

Speaking to the packed-out crowd at Worthy Farm on Saturday, she jokingly revealed: 'Do you know how rock 'n' roll I am?
'Not very, but the BBC had to give me a warning about my potty mouth before I went on. I bet Muse didn't get that.'
While many fans expect the use of swearing from the London-born superstar, there was some surprise as to the barrage of words she used: she even managed to let some escape before she'd even completed her opening song.
In-between her vocals, she was heard yelling out to the screaming crowd: 'You are f*****g amazing!'

The Brexit blockers: Bitter losers from all parties gang up to plot to stop Britain's exit from the EU - which was voted for by 17 million people

British and European politicians are plotting to block the UK’s exit from the EU.
On a chaotic day in which the Labour Party went into meltdown, a campaign was started to force a second referendum.
Tony Blair, Nicola Sturgeon, some pro-Remain MPs and a senior German official said a rethink was needed now the consequences of quitting the Brussels club were clear.
Twenty one Labour frontbenchers have now resigned in a bid to replace Jeremy Corbyn with a pro-EU party leader.

The plotters hope a general election can be held later this year before the start of the formal process of quitting. Last Thursday’s referendum could then be reversed.
In further developments:
  • Theresa May prepared to take on Boris Johnson for the right to win the race to succeed David Cameron as prime minister within the new few months;
  • Mr Corbyn, who sacked Hilary Benn for disloyalty, claimed he was going nowhere, despite failing to even secure the backing of his own deputy, Tom Watson;
  • George Osborne announced he will give a statement today to ‘provide reassurance about financial and economic stability’;
  • The Chancellor, who had not been seen since the referendum result, is to stay in post to ‘protect the national interest’;
  • In a surprise move, talks have also begun for him to join a Boris Johnson leadership ‘dream ticket’ alongside Michael Gove;
  • A petition calling for a second referendum was placed under investigation after 77,000 signatures were found to be fraudulent.

Meanwhile, top figures in Brussels have questioned whether Britain will ever quit the union, with a senior diplomat saying the divorce process will probably be delayed and then ditched.
Iain Duncan Smith said the Europhiles were ‘bad losers’ yesterday.
Mr Duncan Smith said the bid by the political elite to frustrate the will of the people was an ‘anti-democratic joke’.
‘There is a lot of bad losing here from the Europhiles,’ the former Tory leader told the Mail. ‘This was one of the biggest turnouts since the war and there is no justification for a second referendum whatsoever.’
But Philip Hammond, who campaigned for Remain, insisted yesterday that Britain would have to sign up again to the European single market or face catastrophic consequences.

'If you stay in the EU, we will acknowledge the 1966 Wembley goal and reserve sun loungers for you with our towels':German tabloid Bild offers 11 hilarious bribes as Europe's media pleads for UK to stay

German tabloid Bild has offered 11 hilarious bribes in a bid to urge Britain to reject Brexit - even vowing to finally recognise Geoff Hurst's disputed goal in the 1966 World Cup final.
In another offer to English voters in the EU referendum, the country's most popular newspaper said it would personally reserve sun loungers for Britons on holiday using its own towels.
Bild was one of many newspapers across Europe who have pleaded with Britain to stay in the EU after dedicating their front pages to the referendum
The German daily dipped into decades of clichés about British-German relations for its front page - and referenced the controversy over the 1966 World Cup final.
Hurst's extra-time strike at Wembley which put England 3-2 ahead of the then West Germany has long been a bone of contention between the two countries.
Germans claim it landed on the line after hitting the crossbar, while England fans insist the ball crossed the line before bouncing out of the goal.
