Beach break: Wayne Rooney relaxes in a waterfront bar with wife Coleen while recovering from a head injury

England players explored Kiev ahead of their crucial World Cup qualifier while Wayne Rooney headed to a beach in the Algarve on a family holiday.
A gashed forehead ruled out the 27-year-old from the qualifying games against Moldova and Ukraine so Rooney has been taking it easy with wife Coleen and one of his children on the Anco Nascente sands in Quinta do Lago.
Rooney has been wearing a baseball cap to protect his wound from the Mediterranean sun while his family stay at the luxurious five-star Conrad hotel.
he Manchester United striker suffered the three-inch cut in a training ground collision with team-mate Phil Jones on Septmeber 7 and cannot risk contact until the stitches come out.
His wound was revealed last Wednesday when he was pictured with his family at the Apple Jacks Adventure Park in Warrington.
Rooney initially recieved criticism for over-reacting to the injury and responded by posting pictures of the scar on his Facebook page.
Alongside the photographs, he wrote: 'Some people seem to be questioning my commitment to the England squad.'
England's World Cup qualification hangs in the balance against Ukraine in Kiev and Roy Hodgson has to rely on Rickie Lambert, the man with one season in the Premier League, as he is suffering from a striker shortage.
Danny Welbeck is suspended after Friday night’s controversial yellow card for kicking the ball away while Andy Carroll and Daniel Sturridge join Rooney on the injury list.
Let's hope Rooney can find a beach bar showing the football...
